Wendy brought a rousing, fun start with her 3 songs at Chapters Bookshop! She rocked the 8-string she won from Del's Season and held it and played it like she had played that uke all her life, standing there rocking it without a strap - impressive!!! If you had tried to play a tenor or baritone while standing up and gently dancing WITHOUT a strap before- you know that is not as easy as she had made it look. I love how she incorporated the acappella parts in -- they are brief and they are there and they worked! She even got the crowd to do it for the first song! Fantastic. Enjoyed that, Wendy! Thank you!
Graham's entry reminds me of the lovely sound of a river gently flowing. An atmospheric, lovely piece of recording. Also, Graham, your framing with the black background is great! Especially good for someone like me who loves to sticky beak at people's background furnishings. LOL. I like that you include the lyrics and chords too. Lovely a cappella intro. I knew you would make it sound good. A most lovely entry. Thank you!
If Graham's cover of Nowhere Man is like a river gently flowing, then Paul's version is like a pebble skipping on the stream of water. The sweet, bright tone of his gorgeous Golden Ukulele really brings out the uplifting, syncopated picking that Paul has mastered. His a cappella intro sounds very natural too! So glad you find this challenge a good one! Thanks so much Paul!
Confession time - I was looking forward to Alan bringing some barbershop quartet thingie when I thought of this theme and he smashed it in his entry! (of course!) It is so good it gave me goosebumps. Both the intro and the outro. Check that out, guys!!! It is sooooooooooo beautiful. Thank you so much, Alan!
Oh! and Ila! Ila Ila Ila. Your voice is built for acappella! Such a joy to see and hear you perform your entry with that cool little uke that sounds the opposite of how it looks -- HUGE! Really enjoyed your entry! Thank you so much!!
Great start to the Season!!! Thank you to all of you who have posted your songs! No limit, so post away!
Prize - I am thinking of something small. Not sure what yet, but when I know I will let you all know.
Later!
