Hey, Seasonistas!

Welcome to our shiny new home and to the 669th Season of the Ukulele! Firstly, let me thank everyone who has been involved in getting this up and running! You are truly beautiful humans!

Myself and Edith are very honoured to be hosting this week of our new beginning!

Right! Down to business…

Tomorrow (Sunday 8th Dec) marks the final date of Taylor Swift’s record breaking Eras Tour. The tour began in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona and concludes tomorrow night in Vancouver. The tour has consisted of 149 shows (each running 3 and a half hours),spanned 5 continents, 51 cities, surpassed US$ 1 billion in revenue and has an unprecedented cultural and socioeconomic impact on the globe. So, to celebrate the end of this incredible undertaking, Edith and myself are asking for the following.

Any song by Taylor Swift (obvs…)
Any song by any band/artist who has ever collaborated with our Tay-Tay or were a support act on the tour. ( I’ll post a full list in a reply below, there’s a bunch…)
Any song that mentions,in the title or lyrics, any city the tour vistited OR any song by an artist/band that fits that criteria eg: Whitney HOUSTON, John DENVER etc..
For the songwriters amongst us, any original composition /song that takes any of Taylor’s album titles as a prompt. So any song that mentions/are about the following: Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights or The Tortured Poets Department.

You can pretty loose with this. If you think it might fit, it probably does!

That should give everybody enough to go at. All the usual terms and conditions apply. Newly recorded songs only (is Rob here? I hope so! If you are, of course you can continue to bring songs from your amazing back catalogue! Ukes front and centre, collabs heartily encouraged, usual start time and finish time etc…

Any questions, let me know. I’m currently in the desolate windswept hell hole of Blackpool but I’ll be logging in tomorrow and adding a playlist when stuff starts happening!

668 is still happening some there’s still time to get something in there!

There will be small prizes. A big thing during the Eras Tour was the making and exchanging of Friendship bracelets so Edith will be making a few to commemorate the Season for the winners.

Right, we’ll leave you to it! (Fingers crossed this works…)

Playlist!

Fab theme Bob J and Edith!

Am I the only person who might have to ask their daughter for song choice advice? 🤔

Bystander

No, you're not Steve !

I think I might get away with a Police song though via Shawn Mendes :-)

Ila

This should be fun! Thanks for hosting, Bobby and Edith!

CeeJay

Hmmm, this is not a familiar Universe .

LimousinLil

Bonjour! Thanks so much to the geniuses who set all this up .. and, of course, to Bob and Edith for this first week! I am not very "up" on things Taylor Swift - sorry, Edith - so it's great to see that there are alternatives.

Mezcalero

Fantastic theme Bob and Edith! While I can't claim to know Taylor's music, definitely recognize some of the collaborators music! Cheers ~

johnpoole

What I like about the new forum is the hosts agreeing to pay each member for each video!! 🙂

CeeJay

johnpoole ?????

johnpoole

Yes - and apparently it’s double bubble when there are two hosts! 😆👍🏼

Joko

What a theme to start the new space with! Thank you, Bob!

I only became a "Swifty" relatively recently. Love all her work, her outlook, her stance against the labels… But it wasn't always that way. I used to question her talent due to some weird notion that the universe doesn't hand out world-class talent and such stunning beauty to one person. They don't come together in one package like that.
I was wrong. They do.

johnpoole

Thanks to all those who have produced this fine outcome. Thanks to Bobby and Edith for the generous theme. I'm using the tour city option. Sydney.

This song is in the spirit of Sam Stone or the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. By the band Cold Chisel and written by Don Walker. "Khe Sanh"

On guitalele.

UkeCan1

I assume a song that Taylor covered counts as a collaboration with another artist?

She covered "How to Save a Life" in 2011 in Denver, The Fray's home city.

It's also a twofer because "Life", and 2011 is one of my 7 years.

I have an actual Taylor song for tomorrow if I can learn it….

Bystander

Thanks for hosting Bobby and Edith, I've gone for the city option, Denver is my choice, a quick take on Annie's Song.

LimousinLil

Ooh, this WORKS! Thanks very much for hosting, Edith and Bobby! Edith, you are going to be VERY disappointed in this contribution - I honestly don't know very much about Taylor - so I went for the cities on the Tour option. I was going to go for Liverpool, where I know you saw her, but then came up with this song about London (Wembley). Actually, I've never visited the new Wembley and only ever visited the old Wembley once, from school, to see a hockey match … one of our Games Mistresses was an ex-England player. (In case anyone is feeling cold, please come and join me by the fire … we had snow this morning.)

UkeFoote

Looks great, y’all… Thank you to the builders!!! I’m traveling but will check in mid week 👍

YorkSteve

Here's the Taylor song I know best - no advice from daughter required.

Hey, people!

Sorry for my late appearance. I'm now home from the wild and windswept Lancashire coast with happy memories of wax effigies and drag queens, a slight headache and Nic Cage's enormous face on a blanket. I've ordered a curry, watched the first submissions (all terrific! Thank you!) and hopefully successfullycreated, attached and updated the playlist.

You now have my undivided attention until a week tomorrow!

(Edith is seriously considering setting her alarm for 3am so she can live stream the final concert of the Eras tour. I'm just looking forward to going to bed…)

Looking forward to the week ahead! X
