Season 714: Just the facts, ma'am

As is often a problem with me, I try to bite off more than I can chew. This week I decided to try to do a medley of "just the facts" songs after I discovered the site lyrics.com and entered "facts" into the search box. Lots of good ones, most not mentioning joe, California or Friday (I think).
I was going to use "Crosseyed and Painless" to open and close it.
Facts are simple and facts are straight

Facts are lazy and facts are late

Facts all come with points of view

Facts don't do what I want them to

Facts just twist the truth around

Facts are living turned inside out

Facts are getting the best of them

Facts are nothing on the face of things

Facts don't stain the furniture

Facts go out and slam the door

Facts are written all over your face

Facts continue to change their shape

Maybe somebody out there is trying to think of a song to do and finds one of these appealing. Carry on.

Do y'all remember that 1987 buddy/comedy film Dragnet, starring Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks? It was both a parody of and a tribute to the original TV series. Yeah? Remember?

And do y'all remember the ending credits song "City of Crime" with Aykroyd, Hanks, and one additional actor "rapping" together? Remember how stupid-sounding that song was? I sure do.

And it's the first song that came to mind for me this Season.

And I realized that even though it's a terrible song, I love it.

And I just couldn't not "learn" it and share it with y'all here…

My first exposure to Dragnet, was actually on the radio. My family lived in Germany for a year when I was 10/11 and it was a regular feature of Armed Forces Radio, where I learned all the cheesy hits.

This one is from Merle Haggard. "If we make it to December". ("…maybe even California…")

It occurs to me that almost all my songs are around 50 years old. I'm really not that big of a "classic hits" dude, but Reggae, Punk and Jazz, hiphop, and chill are hard to play on the uke. I looked through my song list and two are aboutr 25 years old and the rest are all 70's tunes pretty much.
Anyway, I break tradition with a song from an amazing artist, Billie Eilish. It's only 8 years old. Title is "Party Favor", she is breaking up with her boyfriend via voice mail.

Qualifier: "… i'll call the cops"

OK, let's wrap up this season. What a great couple of dozen songs we had here. I really love originals, and we had fantastic ones this season, but also had songs from each or the 6 categories that cover a wide range of styles and eras. A lot of "Joes" out there. Like I said, no prizes this season, but here are a couple of "awards"

The "76 Trombones Award" goes to YouCan1 for her fine whistling of that brass introduction to Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds song Don't Pull Your Love.

The "Earworm Award" goes to AlanDP, because I still can't get his song, "Old Man Joe" out of my brain.

And finally, the "Over-Thinking It Award" goes to Potmo who started out the season desperately seeking a tworfer, near the end of the season told us of his attempt at a "fact filled" medley, and then snuck in two fine submissions in the final hours of the season

I really loved all the songs and thanks for putting up with me this week.
