potmo This is actually a Dec 31st special in the current season (724 What's New) ICYMI. Post your favorite performance of 2025. You decide what makes it your favorite. It must be something you previously recorded this year, however, if you recorded something, but never contributed it to a season, that's fine. I am going to leave this up for a couple of weeks, so while you won't get into the SOTU 724 playlist unless you post before the end of the season. The Best of 2025 playlists will be built here. The link is in my signature and also here. Best of 2025 Playlist
Threebird Thanks for hosting this Season and for this additional component to the Season! (I wasn't sure, so I posted this in both threads.) My Sweetie tells me that this was my best/her favourite performance this year. I might pick something different, but this one works. This is a cover of an artist based in southern Alberta, Carter Felker, the song is Cold Wind.
DelGriff It’s always really tricky to go back and select just one favourite, but after lots of umming and ahhing I’ve finally settled on this one. I’m always initially a bit daunted by any song I choose to cover, but this is a timeless classic, so the pressure to make a good fist of it was extra intense - especially those vocal harmonies. I was mightily relieved with the outcome! Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel cover (SOTU 708) - reposted for SOTU 724
potmo @Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay So, this is what I have chosen for my best of the year (well, half year, that is how long I've been here). I think that the past few seasons the sound quality has been the best, with the upgraded recording equipment I recently acquired, but I believe my best of the year was from season 711. The sound of the 1940's pineapple I'm playing on screen melded so perfectly with the hundred year old banjolele I play off screen, that it formed a very nice hybrid sound.
potmo @UkeFoote I put close to one hundred work hours into arranging, practicing, and recording my Big Medley of Songs from 1975. It's probably the best thing I did in 2025. I was disappointed it got so few views : ( Thanks for hosting, David!
potmo @Barbablanca Choosing a favourite song from this year's harvest is like choosing which of your children you love best. But I am going to offer the song that I feel was the most relevant for this year as the genocide in Gaza continues. I have friends in Israel who are vehemently opposed to what is happening in their name, but sadly they appear to be in the minority. Historians will look back on this and condemn the world for virtually turning a blind eye to what is happening, even now, after a so called cease fire.
potmo As of 4:20 pm Hawaiian time, I believe that this playlist is up to date. Please let me know if I missed you!
potmo ### I'm a believer – The Monkees My cleanest dirty shirt I don't know if this was my best performance, but having my (other) sister Aviva in town, doing harmony and the fact that it was live and when I screwed up I relaxed and laughed it off, made it one of my favorite ones anyway and one of the funnest.
dr_mitch This was only a month ago, but since I delude myself I'm still improving, it was always going to be a recent one - and this is the first year where my songs from 6 months ago don't make me wince. An Elvis song with a long instrumental lead, and a hat pulled down too far forward.
Joko Looking at my own Seasons Playlist, I count 52 me-entries for the year 2025. Perfect! I hit the one-per-week number! The most memorable performance was week 691, when an impulse to do a little more on the video side landed me on stage at my favorite restaurant with a great backing band and some first-rate videography to boot.
LimousinLil And hello again, David! I have no idea if this was my "best" performance of the year - I don't do "best" - but it DID take a lot of putting together, so, herewith …
uke4ia Of the songs I felt were my best in 2025, this was more upbeat than the others. This is an NRBQ song from the late '80s.
potmo uke4ia Awesome addition, Jim! For those of you who have yet to post your favorite 2025 performance (doesn't need to be SOTU but of course that's fine). It might take me a while to add you to the playlist, but eventually it will get there!
