Season 728 — People are strange when you’re a stranger

UkeFoote

"People Are Strange", by the Doors. For tenor ukulele with singing and whistling. Overdub of Ashbory Ubass. Thanks for hosting, Jim!

Well, I'm no Billie Holiday, but given the times, I thought "Strange Fruit" needed to be here.

I have an early morning and was already asleep when my Sunday 8pm alarm went off reminding me the new Season was starting and I had forgotten to make a video.

I quick grabbed a uke and made this in bed. I think the spooky lighting suits the song.

For twoferness I matched it with the Joo drawing I used for the thumbnail, which to me evokes an enslaved person in a pastoral setting.

Penny Lane – twofer ("very strange") and see SOTU 729 for why that one works :-)

Is this the second week in a row that Bobby and Brian have posted the same song at the same time? I think it is!

Billy Joel was a big part of my youth, especially this album, "The Stranger". Here's the title song. Starts with a whistling solo.

There are at least four of Joo's drawings over at 729 that could easily evoke this idea of hiding your true self from your lover. I chose #7.

MsBean

The Syncopated Walk is a song from the 1914 musical comedy Watch Your Step, with lyrics and music by Irving Berlin.
