This song popped into my head, even though I haven't heard it in 50 years or so. Susan Raye grew up in Oregon where she became the host of a radio show and was discovered there by Buck Owens' manager when she was performing in a nightclub. He flew her to Bakersfield to meet with Owens, and she became his protege and duet partner. She had a very successful solo career as well, and this was her biggest hit.

Superman's Song - Crash Test Dummies

A song by Canadian band The Crash Test Dummies. This one was very popular in Canada. I'm not sure how it did in other countries. This one took me a long time to get a handle on.

I just watched this and somehow the Text Overlay was turned on and I discovered a cool mondegreen. When I sang "I Tarzan, You Jane" the words on the screen read, "My car's in Eugene."

Hello folks! I do believe I'm up to date with everything now, after Jim's cover of Superman's Song, which was the one Superman song I could think of… but I've already been introduced to one more, and we have a kind of Superman themed original too.

Anyway. Anyone want anything from the refreshment trolley? We do accept cash in a variety of currencies, but we would appreciate exact change if possible.

Also, I'm afraid the in-flight entertainment system is on the blink, so I guess we'll just have to make our own entertainment and sing to each other.

I don't want to frighten any passengers, but here's one about a flight which doesn't end well. I decided to do this one yesterday, a song that I first heard on Ronnie Lane's rather wonderful "Any more for any more" LP about fifty years ago. But before I had a chance to record it, I went shopping this morning and there in a second-hand shop was a copy of that very album - and there it is in the background of the video. Fate is a wonderful thing.

Berni's song put this one in mind. It features a bird and a plane, and is about a wartime hero from Dundee called Winkie The Pigeon.

One of many old "aeroplane" songs. I don't think the cover artist knew exactly how an airplane looked, though. That's kind of an odd-looking airplane.

I used to play this with my friend Gary Smith in high school. We learned it from a Greenbriar Boys LP. Gary did all the singing in those days. I just played the guitar.
It's another one that popped into my head as soon as I saw Edwin's challenge this season.

I love Vic Chesnutt and if the theme fits i always try to see if i can play one of his songs.

Here is one inspired by American poet Wallace Stevens' poem "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird".

i am playing a Bird On A Wire baritone uke which luthier Tom Molstad affectionately named Rufous. this was his 17th bari, completed in November, 2018.

the animation was made by me a few years ago with a free app called Folioscope on the ipad.

Have any of you watched the documentary Listers on YouTube? It is "a glimpse into extreme birdwatching". Me and Jon watched it the other night and really enjoyed it.
