Thank you Ralf for closing us out in such Rocksteady style. I declare Season 688 officially put to bed. And let’s get the wrap out of the way while we are here eh?
Thank you so much to all of you who took part so brilliantly. We had 27 songs from 20 Seasonistas. Wendy kicked proceedings off with Shirley Jones. By my reckoning we had 8 Dame Shirleys, a Shirley Collins from Steve, 2 Shirley Owens (Reeves) from Charldene and yours truly, a Shirley Manson, a Shirley Temple, a Shirley Eikhard, a Shirley Palmer of the Kaye Sisters, a Shirley Booth, a Shirley Goodman, a Shirley Simms, a Shirley Scott, a Roy Shirley, oh, and not forgetting the lovely Shirley MacLaine. That’s quite a lot of Shirleys. I was wondering the other day if there were any Shirley ( or Shiralee as Tom Conti called her ) Valentine songs….but I didn’t get round to investigating further.
We also has a few songs about Shirleys, or where Shirley is mentioned ( I particularly like Joo’s Geefle and Gonk song ). And we had 3 fabulous originals, each, as I requested and you didn’t let me down, entitled Shirley, from city gent Berni, Joo and last but not least Bob J.
So to all of you who took part, Wendy, Alan, Ila, Val, Southern John, Steve, Brian, Dan, Bobby, Joo, Del, Paul, Berni, Big King Velour, Graham, Canada Jim and Rabbit Jim, Charldene, and Ralf, thank you all. I wish I had more time to devote to Seasons but I will take part where I can. Now be off with you and enjoy Jim’s Yes theme.
Ps, and don’t call me Shirley!!
