Season 693 - Beatles or Byrds

TCK

Hope I am not too late, last week of school got pretty busy.

I lied yesterday … I think this is also a perfectly legit twofer.

The Byrds covered this 1939 Vera Lynn hit, that was later made into a 1943 musical film, "We'll Meet Again", starring Vera and roughly based on her life. It's available free on YouTube, if you're obsessive like me.

I wasn't able to find a song that both the Beatles and the Byrds recorded, so I'm going for a call-and-response approach.

In 1965, the Beatles released Rubber Soul, calling "You Won't See Me."

Then in 1966, the Byrds responded "I See You"

This Video montage of my old Yangon neighborhood with only Strawberry Fields for narration fits here at the end of the week methinks. Recorded in June, 2015.

I thought I'd do some research on scarab beetles and Khepri, maybe rereading excerpts from Rick Riordan's The Kane Chronicles. It was all a bit too ambitious.

My scaled down plan is three haiku resembling verses about the maybug over the chord progression Am Em Dm E; Am G Dm E.

The beetle is in decline. I saw them at least every other year when I was a child. I've seen two in the last decade…

Heck, it's all happened in the last few hours. Back later to catch up on it all!

YorkSteve

Joko Is it just me or is the music silent?

And then it was all over.

I think we have about 43 videos from about 23 Seasonistas. No doubt there were more Beatles than Byrds, but that was expected - some excellent Byrd covers though, and some originals too.

Thanks to everyone who chipped in, and thank you all for not doing "Yellow Submarine", a song which ukulele groups seem to think is fun. But isn't.

And now we head over to Val's place to sing some songs from the musicals. See you there.

Thanks for the week Steve. It sounds just as well I didn't record my version of "Yellow Submarine to the tune of In the Pines" (put together ages ago for a one song to the tune of another challenge).

DelGriff

Thanks for a great week @YorkSteve! 🙂
