@Barbablanca and @johnpoole mentioned "Like a Rolling Stone" as a favourite. Well, Chosic gave me it as a suggestion, so I thought I'd have a bash.

It's trickier than it looks, and I've altered some timings, but here's my attempt. I may continue practicing and attempt to add it to my repertoire as it's a belter of a song.

This was really tough at first, because I couldn't imagine trying to pick a favorite song… then I re-read the instructions and saw that it was favorite song TO PLAY. That's easy, for me it is Jimmy Buffet's "Pencil Thin Mustache" I cranked that into Chosic, and up popped this song… a song I'd normally never do… because it is such an earworm. Dead Skunk (In the Middle of the Road).

Hey Joko, here's one of the matches that came up in my search. I think this is one of the last songs Bob Marley ever wrote. In researching it I discovered his wife has said "Bob already knew he had cancer in his toe and he was already secretly in a lot of pain and dealing with his own mortality, a feature that is particularly evident in this song" The song has always moved and awaken feelings in me I struggled to define. As I get older I can certainly understand those feelings better.

Here is mine. I went for the "Random Genre" option and got "Electronic Music" - so you have really managed to jog me out of my comfort zone today, Joko! 😉

FOR SEASONISTAS ONLY:
I thought my muse had gifted me an entirely fictional story, but then when I was recording it, I realised that though the details are in no way applicable, the basic story of sudden loss of a talented young singer fit my mother's profile perfectly.

My Mum had a voice that was like a cross between Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield. She used to sing with the Nigerian Police Dance Band! (She was a secretary in the police headquarters at the time).

She died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash. She was 36, I was 16. In a years time, I will have lived twice her lifespan!

So it goes.

I made the mistake of entering "Supper's Ready" by Genesis as my song (a 23-minute-long prog epic). That meant the similar songs were mostly very long and complicated. This is a song called "God If I Saw Her Now" from a solo album by Anthony Phillips, the Genesis lead guitarist before Steve Hackett. This song had separate parts to be sung by a man and a woman -- Phil Collins sang the male part on the original. The other singer was the lesser-known Vivienne McAuliffe. Sorry, but you just get me.

I entered "Walkin' My Baby Back Home" and one of the songs that was suggested was "It Had To Be You". I like it a lot, but since I didn't have time to work out an arrangement, I just strummed chords and sang.0

Fun challenge!

I started by inputting the first few songs I loved playing on ukulele to chosic one at a time. But chosic's suggestions were either too familiar (like Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way") or not at all appealing (like a Toto song).

Then I had chosic make suggestions based on Siouxsie and the Banshees' "Kiss Them for Me." The first suggestion was "No Words" by Clan of Xymox. Not familiar. And when I listened to it, "No Words" had plenty of appeal. So here you go…

Yesterday's open mic set was all chosen by Chosic, based on my favorite go-to ukulele song, "White Room" by Cream. Two of the songs were chosen by me from the Chosic choices for their twofer qualities.

I noticed there are quite a few songs that did not make the playlist. I'm terrible about closing seasons out so not meaning to be critical 🙂

Chosic presented me with a song I've been wanting to do for a very long time, but I still don't feel ready for it. I did make some progress, though. I'll eventually come round to an all too ambitious project.
