I found this comic song from 1888 which has survived through a few generations, as it is included in Jim Carrey's (Big Jim's) ukulele songbook.

I thought I'd play around with a bass line based on the piano sheet music, the chords from Jim's songbook, and plenty of liberties with the melody (because the sax part and the chords don't work as well as expected).
If I had a baritone sax, I'd have picked that for the bass line. However, I only have an alto. Both baritone and alto sax are Eb instruments. This means that a song in C major must be transposed to A major to play together with a standard uke in C. It also means that I can read the bass part from the sheet music with minor changes: I pretend it's printed in violin clef, and I add three sharps to the imaginary key signature to compensate for the three semitones difference between C and Eb.
