Hey, John. Hey, everybody.
It's been a while...
Here's an original song for the Season, written and recorded today and based on the Great Flood story from the Bible.
Dischuffed with what we'd done to place, the big fella supposedly sent a planet-wide deluge to wipe the slate clean (Noah, some of his mates and a floating zoo not included) and start again from scratch.
As is always the case, you can't please everyone and some people preferred it how it used to be...
8 string baritone ukulele and harmonica.
The painting is Noah's Flood and the Companions by Léon François Comerre (1911)
Lyrics...
Life was easy and things were good
in those happy old days
way back before the flood
before the flood
no worries, no problems, no pain
in those bright shining days
way back before the rain
before the rain start to fall
and washed us all
clean from sin so we could start again
Life was simple, you knew where you stood
in them straight-talking, jaywalking
days before the flood
before the flood
smiling people with nary a frown
in those freewheeling days
before God's vengeance rained down
rained down from above
and bathed us in his love
clean from sin so we could start again
There was violence, corruption and war
for sure...but everyone knew everyone
and no-one locked their doors
locked their doors
There was dancing, frivolity and mirth
in those party-hard days
before God smote us from the earth
from the earth, like a plague
and washed away
all our sin so we could start again
Life was easy and things were good
in those happy old days
way back before the flood
before the flood...
