Welcome to Season 711.
I make no apologies for repeating a theme. Almost ten years ago I had my first go at hosting a Season, number 197, all about the UK chart hits of forty years earlier, 1975. So now it’s fifty years ago, let’s do it again.
The rules are a bit more relaxed this time – you can play any song at all from any chart, any country, in 1975, or a track from an album which was released in that year. For the songwriters, how about a song inspired by an event in 1975, or anything to do with the number fifty.
All of the usual rules apply –
Songs must be newly recorded for this week. Ukulele should be prominently featured, but other instruments can be used too.
Collaborations are always welcome, and often fun.
A limit of four songs each.
If you are new to the Seasons, hello! – you get an introductory offer of doing absolutely any song at all, by anybody, any year. If you need further clarification on how this all works, please see Edwin’s wonderful FAQ: https://seasonistaforum.flarum.cloud/d/16-what-are-the-seasons-of-the-ukulele-and-other-faqs-with-answers
The Season starts at 00:01 Hawaii time, Sunday 28th Sept, and ends 23:59 Sunday 5th Oct.
And yes, there will be prizes. Two actually. One will be awarded to the song which surprises me the most (maybe a song I wasn’t expecting, or somebody doing a song out of their usual comfort zone), and the other will be a random draw, because let’s face it, it’s the taking part that counts.
The playlist will be HERE.
And while you cast you minds back to that glorious year, don't forget that you still have another day of Royal songs for Ila's Season 710.
