Hello All, and welcome to Season 733 of the Ukulele. The past week, and for a couple of more days, is the annual Noise Pop festival in San Francisco. This has been an annual production since 1993, and has helped launch several bands/artists who got pretty big (at least as far as rock music goes).
So, my request for this season is for you to bring:
- Songs by any artist who has ever played a Noise Pop Festival show in San Francisco and the Bay Area. You can find a list of acts here. (There were shows in Chicago for a few years, but for this week we're going to keep the focus on the Bay),
- Songs that have the word noise (or related, e.g., noisy, noisome, etc.) in the title or lyrics
For the people who prefer to write and play something original, think along themes of noise, chaos, etc. Or a protest song (see below note*****).
If you are new here, or have been lurking for a bit but not joined, you can bring any song you like, regardless of whether it fits the above theme. But if you decide to contribute more than one song, your songs 2 through n must fit one of the above prompts.
If you have any other questions or need a reminder, you can always refer to the FAQ thread. But, as is typical for one of my Seasons, the usual rules apply… The song must be newly recorded for this season; please do not post before midnight Hawai'i Time on March 1st or after midnight Hawai'i time on March 8th; multi-tracking and other instruments are fine, but your ukulele must be front and center (and high in the mix); collaborations are more than welcome; please try and listen to and leave some positive (or at least constructive) feedback on other people's videos; etc., etc.
No more than one (1) song per day please.
No prizes this week, but for every song that gets played I am going to donate a buck to Doctors without Borders*****, up to $100
*Note: I see that, since I wrote this draft, The U.S. has decided to get itself into another Imperial Misadventure(TM) in the Middle East. If you feel the need, you can bring a sing that expresses your feelings about war in general, or this war in particular, but it must come after a Noise Pop song. Unless you wrote it. Then you can play a protest song or songs as your primary contribution.
