DelGriff Your brother didn't get what punk rock was, if he thouight Blondie wasn't every bit as punk as the sex pistols. Debby certainly was welcome in both the London scene and CBGBS. She was the punk rock sex symbol and of course the band made her that much better.
You finally did a song I like! I always like your renditions but we obviously have a gap in taste. Not this time. Blondie rules ok! This would have been a fun beatbox tune heheh.

My '80s song (and hopefully not the only one I get done this Season) is "Airwaves" by Thomas Dolby. My memory is that the album was first released in 1982, then re-released in 1983 because they wanted to include a new song Dolby had written called "She Blinded Me with Science". The new release added a bridge to Airwaves.

Zombie by the Cranberries. 1994.

This song was written in response to an IRA bombing in a shopping center that killed two children.

I think its a powerful description of the mental disassociation that must be necessary for people to do such things…

I did the back-up track with my early birthday uke, a Kala tenor archtop in reentrant tuning and the melody on my tenor Joe Zier in low G tuning. it was a very low tech overdub, so the balance is $%&@* and the Kala sounds very tinny.

Secondly, I won a different game with myself - a different uke on each recording (I played 10 out of 12 ukes in use - why do I have so many ukuleles?). I also wore a different hat on each recording.

I watched a video of Michael Stipe singing live on YT the other day and boy, he has not lost any bit of his awesomeness.

there are so many songs to do, but because that image of the old and awesome Stipe left such an impression on me I thought of one of my favourites of their's.

i am playing a sopranino uke made by David Hanson from a 4-post bed, and a beanie my amazing sister made for me on the last day we were in Singapore. She crocheted 2 beanies while doing 10 other different jobs.

With too many wonderful songs performed during the twentieth century for me to attempt any research, I had to go with the first song title that came to mind, "20th Century Boy," a T Rex single from early March 1973.

And it's fun that I'm only about 9 months old older than this song, making me a 20th century boy, myself 😛

Well, that should be that. I think I have everything onto the playlist. I was out of town for a day, so fell behind on listening, I'll finish that up tonight and then do a proper season summery.

OK, so let's put this season to bed. Great turnout here, 50 songs of the century plus 2 originals for a total of 52 songs by 19 performers. We had three BINGOs with people bringing songs of the decades, AlanDP, potmo, and dr_mitch showing their great range. Great job guys!

On the chart below, you will see a wide range of decades being showcased, with the 1970's leading the way with 9 songs, closely followed by the 1960's with 8. The least sung about decades were the 1910's, 1920's and 1950's with 3 each (yup, just the bingo boys).

If you get a chance, go to this playlist and listen from start to finish, it really shows the versatility of this group.

Here is that chart showing the spread of songs. For some reason it wouldn't let me post this as a picture, so I turned it into a video) Great job everyone.

Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay I found that to post a picture, you need to use a third party site like imgur. They allow you to paste an image, which then creates a link. I dont even think you need an account, although of course having a place to store images that doesnt clutter up your hard drive might make it worth having an account anyway, although I admit I only use it on ocfasions such as these.

BTW, I think you ahve officially destroyed my "extensive tracking".

I've found I can copy an image from my Apple camera roll and then paste it into a post. The upload feature hasn't worked for me.
