CanadaJim YOU OLD FOOL - P.D. Here's an old folk song that fits the theme David. I sure can't recall where I heard it first. It seems like one of those songs I've known forever, like SKIP TO MY LOU.
dr_mitch Time for another! "Sometimes I find myself long regretting some foolish thing some simple thing I've done."
joo this theme is about ME! LOL. the first version was made with paper puppets in 2022. Thanks for hosting Mr. David!
joo here's a song by The Felice Brothers called Soldier's Song. "I sing a tune for the fool I've been" I am playing a sopranino uke. I shot this on my old digicam which has an option called Colour Accent, where it retains only yellows and greens and makes everything else black and white. (I think I need more green and yellow in my room…)
Barbablanca This original of mine could have been a TWOFER, if I had got it recorded early enough. It deals with foolishness in the human being and even has the word fool in one verse! So I reckon it counts! I hope you enjoy I mean enjoy the song at least, please beware of the content! :-)
jon some serious table-turning and a good ol' fashioned dose of comeuppance and just dessert in this fun old traditional folk song 🙂 thanks David edit: the song is called "Oh, How He Lied"
jon theme song from the Walt Disney animated series of educational short films made for the Mickey Mouse Club and first aired to tv in 1955 - teaching kids about the importance of safety when playing sports and recreational activities. the films featured Jiminy Cricket and were voiced and sung by the incomparable Cliff Edwards 🙂
Barbablanca There are many ways to be foolish: one is to join a cult. My narrator is learning this as his involvement in the cult deepens. Has he realised what a fool he is? Will he do something about it? THAT is the question! Hope you like:
jon record hot day here in May for 140 years! took an impromptu swing at this obvious song on our afternoon trek round the beach and the river just cause…why not 'the joker"
jon and just to make sure i properly wear out the welcome mat… this gorgeous old one from 1924 is a song i recorded a few months back over the summer and mentions the violets bravely waiting for May
potmo jon Ha the welcome mat is very cushy and you are light. You hae a long way to go before you wear out the welcome mat but I love the expression!
Barbablanca Here is another example of human foolishness. There could be a whole lot more! Hope you enjoy "Double Life"
dr_mitch And another from me. It feels like it fits, and there's a mention of clowns in the penultimate verse.
uke4ia This is "More Fool Me" from Genesis. This was one of the two songs during the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis that Phil Collins sang lead on.
LimousinLil Hello, David … and thanks for taking up hosting duties again so soon. It is now officially 3rd May here in deepest France, so I am taking you up on your generous offer specifically for today. This song was recorded by Bing Crosby in 1941. Sorry, I could have done with much more practice - I was reading it directly from Doctor Uke's chord sheet - but I ran out of time,
