Hello from a gray but still Tuesday morning in Tassie!
Thanks to Wendy for her last entry, a request from David that she could not resist. An enjoyable listen (and watch), Wendy. Thank you!
And Ralf @OnlyUkeThatMatters showed up looking fresh and ready to take on the world. A Pete Seeger song this time! I find anything from Smithsonian Folkways Recordings to be absolutely fantastic. Thanks Ralf!
Here is the SEASON 742 WRAP-
To those of you who have participated and commented, thank you!
To those of you who have lurked and did not submit anything, you are welcome to join us in the current and future Seasons!
I think Season 742 was a success. I published a theme, you brought the songs as requested, I watched, enjoyed and responded.
We have a total of 51 entries. The playlist says 50 because Graham's @Bystander had removed his short and sweet version of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Thanks for posting it anyway, Graham.
Now, out of that 50, 1 of them is an old video from David @potmo
It was too confusing and annoying for my brain when I tried to make a tally of the different interjections. I hope my failure to publish a report of a tally of performed interjections does not disappoint you. If it does, my apologies. I can tell you the shades of blue Paul is wearing, but I have no interest in numbers. That has been my weakness in school.
What I can give you in terms of numbers is this:
Jon @jon - 8 videos. One of them is a set of 3 songs. I counted that video as one entry.
Wendy @UkeCan1 - 6, one of them is a request from David
David @potmo - 6, one of them is an old video
Paul @dr_mitch - 5
Alan @AlanDP - 4
Jim Yates @CanadaJim - 3
John @johnpoole - 2
Jim @uke4ia - 2
Kevin @Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay - 2
Joo @joo - 2
Edwin @Edwin - 1
Paul @redpaul1 - 1
Del @DelGriff - 1
Brain @UkeFoote - 1
Berni @Bernie - 1
Joko @Joko - 1
Steve @YorkSteve - 1
Ralf @OnlyUkeThatMatters - 1
Sam @musicalmoobslap - 1
Kev @Mezcalero - 1
Graham @Bystander - 1 (removed by him later in the week)
I have commented on each of your videos on YouTube and here, so I won't repeat myself and bore you.
I do feel disappointed that mutual comments have been low this week, again, and I hope we can do better in Sabine's and future Seasons.
Now here are my shout outs to these 3 Seasonistas -
Joko's cover of the theme song INTERJECTION. He asked me to add some of the interjections in the song in Singapore English, which was a great idea. I love that. And later on, with Jon's Australian accent hollering more interjections, that made the whole video special. That song is not an easy one to play and sing, and Joko did a fine job not only covering it (to send the host over the moon), but he also had to mix and weave our interjections in to create something that sounded very original and fun. Thank you, Joko!
Jon's enthusiasm for the songs he played and towards other contributors' videos. His 3-song set was very lovely. But my favourite was Hey Ho! Cook and Rowe, a song by Peggy Seeger about the St Pancras rent strikes in 1960. Thanks Jon!
David's enthusiasm for the Seasons. Thanks David!
Now I am going to pick a favourite, who will I draw and paint something for?
The winner is clearly Jon for me. Not because he is my husband but looking at his level of participation this week.
I feel I should pick another favourite entry from all the entries as a winner, but I can't. So, I won't!
Once again, thank you to everyone who has participated!
I am going to leave you with a couple cartoons I made of our friend and Seasonista Rob. Here are links to his channel Wee Ginga Yin - YouTube and another one of his on gardening and songs Old Gardener Guy - Finland - YouTube
Update: i thought to share some cartoons of Seasonistas i made over the years and because David @potmo was wondering what it means when hosts write "usual exceptions" - our friend Rob had been a long time Seasons contributor who unfortunately suffered a stroke several years back, and since then had not been able to play the same like he did, and we had welcomed his contributions by sharing old videos. Yep. That was and is how we roll here. <3
That's the end of Season 742! See you in 743!
