Season 742 - INTERJECTIONS!

joo

@Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay GREAT to see you, Kevin! I was thinking about you just yesterday. A random thing just occured to me - you won't see my comments on Randy's videos because I had deleted all my older channels! ARGH. The crazy things I do.

@potmo David, thanks very much for your kind words. So good to meet another weirdo like me. (HAHA!) When you joined the Seasons I was hoping you would stay - your presence and enthusiasm, humour and kindness, oh, and the laidback way you sing - and the impressive progress in the way you play as a beginner - your song choices - all these just add LIFE to this place. Seriously man, you should have seen the Seasons back in the days. I am talking some 10 years or more ago. Everyone was commenting on everyone's songs and chatting on the threads. But some folks don't like seeing too many words on the thread, they prefer comments only on YouTube instead of here, for me I think commenting either HERE or on YOUTUBE are fine! Also, some folks thought it was too much chatting about non-Season-related stuff and created another thread just for chatting about random stuff. I don't think there was a need to separate. The banter made the Seasons very fun. I miss that about the Seasons. That was what made the community successful and continued for so long. YOUR input really gives more life to this place, so THANK YOU! I am so glad you are a regular Seasonista now! Hurray!

joo

potmo Wait where's the interjection? 😛~

wait which video are you talking about?

Happy Sunday from me (and Jon!) and all the ukes in the house!

I hope everyone is feeling fine.

I feel really inspired by David's and Paul's performances! I hope no one is thinking I am just writing nice stuff 'cause I am hosting - I am inspired by their attitude and the love they have for playing the uke (and singing!)

I find myself feeling less excited about recording these days (with the camera on me) because I feel like the world does not need to hear me…sometimes I feel this way BUT then I see the way others like Jon, Wendy, David and Paul play their uke and sing with so much fun and that really inspire me!

Paul @dr_mitch brought a REM song with lots of yeahs. Then another one from the Beatles! I don't even remember what interjections were in that Beatles song now…I was smiling at the way Paul scratched his nose right after the song ended. They (Paul's covers, not the 2 bands) were both awesome. Have a listen! (of course both bands were awesome too)

Kevin @Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay showed up with a fun original he co-wrote with his brother Randy. It was great to see and hear you, Kevin. I went to look up on Randy's versions and boy, he was really awesome. It's interesting how different your vocal ranges are. Your low voice is so cool. And it really shows in this cover. Have a listen, Seasonistas!

David brought another Beatles song! In this one, his playing and singing are really pretty damn good. Check it out, Seasonistas!

OK! Brekkie time for Auntiejoo!

(Sabine has posted the new Season and although I know you are about to go hunt for songs to play for her, maybe hunt for some twofers ! Lots of them around!)

Nearsighted-Lemon-McKay

OK, my last entry had a grand total of ONE interjection in it. This song is almost half interjections. This was written by George Harrison and Eric Idle for a BBC TV special many years ago., and yes… that IS how the introduction goes.

Joko

I'm not sure which I like(d) the most: Schoolhouse Rock's math, grammar or civics series of songs and cartoons. Exclamations! fittingly stands out among them all. Only as an adult, examining closely while covering have I come to appreciate some of the unique jazz-inspired melodies of composer Bob Dorough, the driving voice behind it all.

Dedicated to Bob!
AND Joo and Jon who came through with great multilinguil exclamations when called on!

I inadvertently uploaded this to my English teaching profile, but as its about grammar, it fits.

potmo

joo haha i was asking Alan where the interjection was in his "Oh! by Gee! by Gosh, by Gum, by Juv, Oh By Jingo! Oh By Gee, You're the Only Girl For Me." ... it was kinda like a joke only not funny.
Joo you are actually one of the best performers here and I can't hold a candle up to you. You have an amazing unique style, Your voice is beautiful and you strumming style is also very sweet. I surely hope that you realize just how awesome it is tho have you around, just as a musician, forget all the other cool stuff you are doing (which is cool don't get me wrong it is very cool). Please don't stop contributing songs.

"Blitzkrieg Rock" – The Ramonterjectionists

It was 1974. A group of ruffinas got together to bring punk rock to America and to challenge the Beatles interjecionist dynasty... The rest is history

potmo

joo Well, I agree that comments here shouldn't be hated on too much, especially if you also follow them up or do different comments on people's YouTube channels. I tend to like to talk about the seasonista aspect of a song here rather than on YT. The complaint agains chatting in the threads seems to me also unwarranted because the argument of having to scroll through to get to the songs is why we have a playlist! Just my two ents, although I do degfinitelyh overdo it and I wish @Del Griff/ admins would let us delete our posts. I see no reason why this is not allowed, other than an unwillingness to tweak the Flarum server.
The funny thing is that I am about the least enthusiastic person in the world, but I really love playing the Uke! Than k you Tamar for buying me the ukulele which got me addicted to wasting countless hours! And where are you??? I hope she hasnt abandoned us permanently. I might have to go see what's up with her...

potmo

UkeCan1 Would have been a good 740/741 twofer with madness!

jon

fantastic, gruesome and fun ol' banjo and fiddle tune played on my soprano ukulele today at home in front of the chook shed w/ the rainbow lorikeets singing along 🙂
i made some trilly little note runs in between the verses to sort of try and keep the old-time banjo vibe
- and my first ever two-fer! like Jim, i'm not really a two-fer kinda guy but this song fits
the joojoo theme and Sabine's new one
thanks for an awesome theme and such great hosting sweetheart, loving everyone's music so far this week!
having a blast! meanwhile…"Lord, God Almighty what a big ground hog!" "How the children whooped and cried!"
"Ground Hog" - another ripper song i learnt many years ago from one of Ruth Crawford Seeger's collections

joo

joo and the impressive progress in the way you play as a beginner -

I'm actually not sure about this Joo. It is just that a lot of my songs suck but every once in a while i come through. I was thinking about "Hey Bungalow Bill" as a twofer that I would have to redo because i've used my DeGriff here already and @MsBean is strictly anti-Degriff. So I Thought well i will redo it, but eh i think it came out pretty good. This was like my third season or something i think. Problem is I just dont learn them well enough and give up at a certain point in time when it feels like it would take too much effort to perfect it. Not necessarily the right way to go about things. It's not eligible, but since I am your new non Jon idol, you can check out Bungalo Bill in season "That's Wild". I was all clean shaven and standing up and stuff and the worse thing i did was fade out forever like the Beatles did instead of cutting it short.

potmo

@UkeCan1 Monday twofer request: "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill". You once said you liked requests so ...

joo

WOw! Really happy to see more songs this afternoon! And fun ones too!

Thanks to Kevin, David, Joko and Jon!

Special shout out to Joko for doing the theme song! I am over the moon and grinning so hard my face hurts.

Joko - love your suggestion for me to do some of the interjections in Singlish and when Jon came in with his OZ accent, those went so well with your Jokoian style, and the result is a fun mixture of goofy, chaotic, happy sound you have produced! Thanks so much for this! That was truly Hor Seh Lah!!!

David, regarding the " how I feel like the world doesn't need to hear me sing" thinking - It is a constant awareness, but I keep publishing my attempts anyway. It is a document of my playing and myself, really. A very self-centered sort of thing, I think. Seriously, I have become lazier with playing music. And regarding your progress, I see your playing and think of how I progressed when I first started playing and I never played as varied as you, and that really impressed me! Various strumming patterns, picking, time-signatures, these are all fun to explore. Like you, I don't like to spend too much time and effort on perfecting a song.

WORD GAME - anyone else has more than 100 words from the word INTERJECTION?

musicalmoobslap

i sat and made this with the word interjection as the intention.
ukelele is so easy for new ways to make chords compared to guitar

UkeCan1

I predict we may hear a lot of Grateful Dead for the "hunt" theme this week. Robert Hunter wrote a lot of their lyrics including this one - "Uncle John's Band".

It has some tricky rhythms - hopefully I got close.

Unlike the Beatles, the Dead did not use many interjections in their songs. This one includes a "whoa" for the twofer.

joo

Ah! Awesome to see @musicalmoobslap and Wendy @UkeCan1 with their songs! I have added your songs to the playlist and will listen to them and comment tomorrow!

See ya!

joo

Hello from a cloudy Monday morning in Tassie!

I am running out the door to deliver flowers with Jon now. Will be back after.

Please keep the songs coming.

Later!

joo

Sam (I saw Del wrote Sam on the comment) @musicalmoobslap brought an amazing spoken word improv that blew my mind. THANK YOU!!! So good to hear and see you, Sam!

And Wendy brought us one, a twofer from Rober Hunter. Such a lovely song, and Wendy did it wonderfully. I enjoy her energetic performances, but I think I enjoy even more her mellower ones. THANKS WENDY!!!

We still have a few hours to go for this Season. I am looking forward to @OnlyUkeThatMatters Ralf's song, and hey @MsBean Sabine, gonna play us one too?

I will be back in a few hours to see if anyone has posted anything.

Later!

uke4ia

This is "Hey, St. Peter", a late '70s song by the Australian band Flash and the Pan. It uses the interjection "Hey!". A lot. I had fun figuring out how to play this, and I only hope it's half as much fun to listen to. This is a Kiwaya K-Wave concert uke made to look like a Fender Telecaster, and it's running through an Electro-Harmonix C9 box to add an organ sound.

UkeCan1

potmo @UkeCan1 Monday twofer request: "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill". You once said you liked requests so ...

I do love requests! Even better, this is exactly the song I wanted to do for my Monday twofer, but I saw that you had been doing all the Beatles songs, so I thought I’d better leave it to you! So thank you for the permission and the request!

Here’s “The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill” by the Liverpool lads, for David @potmo .

It contains many heys and one zap.

Hallelujah!
