Season 748 - Dedicated Follower of Fashion

DelGriff

Thanks for hosting, Doc! :-)

Depeche Mode were my fave group during my fave decade (the 80s, of course), and I’ve covered over 20 of their songs during my time on the Seasons. And here’s another - a track from their superb album, Violator.

Baritone uke, with various synth and drum additions.

Blue Dress - Depeche Mode cover (SOTU 748)

And here’s my blast from the past - one of my fave originals, written nearly 5 years ago for @bobjking ’s denim themed Season 501.

The qualifying line is: ‘My blood stained jeans on a chair by the bed…’

‘Without You’ - an original song by me for SOTU 501

Mezcalero

Thanks for hosting sir! Townes Van Zandt tune "he wore his gun outside his pants" Cheers ~

I like the idea of doing a new one and sharing one from the past! Here's one from the way back machine. I imagine some of you will remember Marc Hinchey.

"Yeah my mamma knew the neighbor kids down the street down the street, with holes in their clothes and nothin' much to eat"

Marc is still a regular at the Seasonista open mic on Saturdays.

With this song, although it mentions "fashion" early on, you have to wait until the second last line for the article of clothing… and that is one of my favorite words…. "dungarees" !!! It's Gidget!

OneManAndHisPGUke

My blast from the past is one I did for Bobster and the ‘Dith’s Season 669. This one mentions Levis, sweatshirt, and most importantly, cardigan. This was a tricky one to learn as it’s just on the limit of my range, but it’s such a beautiful song I wanted to give it a went. Cardigan by Taylor Swift.

KKimura

Hi, just joined up yesterday. Here's Mr. Bojangles.

My Ukulele Helps Me Beat The Blues - Here's my blast from the past.

In spite of these old ragged clothes I'm wearin'
I'm happy from my hat down to my shoes.

Here is my final submission for this season (stop applauding). There is a bit of a story to this one. A few weeks ago, at the uke group I belong to,, I was passing by one of the ladies, Kat, as she was talking to two other women, and all I heard her say was "granny panties". I looked at her and said I didn't need to hear that, to which she replied "You'll probably write a song about them"… well, challenge accepted. So I wrote this little ditty, Kat's Granny Panties.

(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes – Elvis Costello

Thanks Paul. A very fun Topic once a flood of songs came to my head all of which i have been wanting to learn. OK if I am going to reach 66 I need 22 for today so ...

Green Shirt – E. Costello (The Goat)

My allowed blast from the past. A very nice tradition. Now we need a name for it. Not my greatest performance but I have my own theme going... and it is a great song by a great artist.

Alison – Elvis

...and I heard you let that little friend of mine take off your party dress

Every Day I Write the Book - The king (lower case in honor of Mr. Presley)

... when you find strange hands in your sweater...

Well Paul, I don't know if I am going to make it to 66 but I am starting to think that my hero actually has close to 66 clothing songs. I always like your choice of songs, so hopefully you are an E. Costello fan, if not, feel free to skip ahead and pretend you watched and make up some compliment. Or... maybe you will become an E. Costello fan if you can see past my fumbling and appreciate the quality of the actual song which i had nothing to do in creating.

Hi Paul, thanks for hosting!

Great theme! I have been busy gardening this week, so I have not showed up earlier except to show off my pun-woman-ship.

Today is the winter solstice in Tasmania. I was out in the backyard gardening this morning, also to record this song for your Season and Season 749. It mentions "gardening clothes". You can see my gardening outfit at the end of the video. I am very proud of my $6 dollar rubber boots from Bata.

the lyrics (in YouTube description box) are written using the words suggested by John for Season 749!

Watcing The Detectives

ELVISISKINGELVISISKINGELVISISKINGELVISISKINGELVISISKINGELVISISKINGELVISISKING
So Watching the Detectives may be my all time favorite although I say that about all his songs so... but the point is I was really disappointed that there weren't any clothing references until .... duh Eureka! ("Cut to baby taking off her clothes). THEN, I was wondering what the term "red dogs under illegal legs" meant. The song has all kinds of noir detective references in it and in the Raymond Chandler days, the term "dogs" meant feet with a definition that extends to SHOES, and in this case, in spit of Elvis' regularly vague and blurry symbolism etc., I can't inageind a "red dog" referring to feet and not shoes. But in any event the clothes alone should handle it.

Threebird

Thanks for hosting this Season! Here is a late entry from me, it mentions jacket in the second verse - a cover of 'Blind Love' by Lola Young.
