Yes, I didn't quite get it together in time for the starting bell. This song proved more challenging than I budgeted for.
I asked, what is the twofer intersection between freedom / American independence and France?
The obvious answer is the giant green copper torch-bearing French woman welcoming strangers into New York Harbor for 140 years.
I YouTube-searched for a song with a message I could get behind (and hopefully @potmo too), with enough France content to be a good, not just incidental, fit for your theme.
I hit the jackpot with this one! It's about evenly sprinkled with interesting facts about the lady herself, her Gallic origins, and what she stands for.
I learned a lot! And it's a bop.
It even features my home state, and hints at the long-running dispute with our neighboring state re jurisdiction over the lady and her island.

In the meantime, here's how I celebrated the 4th in Brisbane last night:

That's Daisy in the middle, who performed last night in "Singing in the Rain", her acting debut. Trish and I and about a dozen of our Brisbane City Sounds Chorus singing sisters met for dinner and the show and drinks and dessert with Daisy afterward. You might recognize these two as the other 2/3 of our 3/4 quartet who sang at an open mic a while back. We're still working on ensnaring a lead singer to complete our foursome.
