Weird Al's "Truck Drivin' Man" was a style parody of truck driving songs such as those made by C. W. McCall and Dave Dudley. Dudley recorded this song, although I like the version by the Willis Brothers better, and I sang it more like they did.

Hello, Andy … and thanks for hosting! This song was covered by "The Pussy Cat Dolls", who, in turn, were parodied by "Weird Al" in one of his Polka Medleys. (Just checked, it was "Polkarama".)

I am loving this season Andy! Not only are pretty much all the bands or individuals I ever would want to play on the eligibility list, I get to choose the favorite song that i have been meaning to play with no further justification needed! That and playing songs I really like from a band I otherwise haven't spent much time listening to is also cool. The best part about this song is how easy it is to play, with the main skill needed is to play it as slow as possible.

DesertPavement I have had an idea for a Rolling stones parody. Would taht qualify as an original/ using a parodied band? In other words it woudl be my changing of the lyrics not Al's. It wold sdort of be an original in someone else's style ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hey Andy,

here's an original I wrote in 2020. Today I rearranged it and re-recorded it quite differently from the original version.

I know you wanted us to write an original in someone else's style, but I thought it might be interesting for you to hear the original Joo version and this new version.

John the North recently sent me (and Jon) a CD as a prize for his Season - Ants from Up There by Black Country, New Roads, and I really love it. I love their arrangements and the sounds of the different instruments, especially the saxophone and keyboards, and wow, the lead singer's voice is so emotional. So, I got inspired to make a sorta emotional sound with my original. I said sort of, because I am not sure if it sounds that way to others. I tried adding some keyboards and melodica to the arrangement, with the intention to create a sad vibe. The challenge for me is mainly the multitracking.

EDIT: Hi again, Andy! I have deleted this but now I got it restored because why not share it, i thought! If you decide to not accept this as an entry, I am cool with it.

Any song sung by AL ,but not that actual song ,instead a song by the artist sung by Al and even the actual song that AL sung and parodied , but sung straight OR a song by someone sung in a style of someone else , so like "Hurt" by Some Big Nails sung by Johnny Cash as an example, but not that one cos he did it !! ??

I need a lie down .

Lawrence Welk's theme song was included in the first Polkas On 45. Welk recorded this song with the Lennon Sisters. Chorus only!

Ok here is one i just recorded for the "original in someone else's style" category!

here is a quickie inspired by the great Rushad Eggleston!

I discovered Rushad during the Covid lockdown through Jon and had attended a few of his live streams where he improvised stuff on the spot. absolutely awesome! if you want weird, Rushad is freak level weird and freak level awesomeness. He recently got arrested for trying to climb on some public structure to play his music. I also saw a video where he was pouring tabasco sauce into his eyes as he performed. I WILL NOT do that, but I will try the kazoo.

I've not entered a season for some time, but I seemed to have the need 😉. As Weird All parodied a U2 song, this should fit. This is a U2 song from one of the new EP's they released this year. This is called scars.
