Season 763 - Del’s 60th Birthday Party Playlist

xommen

This really said Del’s playlist to me, here is my take on Forever Young by Alphaville.

AlanDP

Another 80s hit. This will probably be one of those songs you never thought you'd hear me do.

OLD FIVE AND DIMERS LIKE ME - Billy Joe Shaver

Happy Birthday Del!

People My Age - John Gorka

This is the song I was gonna sing for you on Saturday, but my turn had gone by the time you showed up. Happy Birthday Del. Wish I were 60 again. Hell, I wish I were 80 again.

Good morning! Thanks all for your good wishes and your music. Back to work today - I took the day off for my birthday yesterday, and I was hoping to record something for the Season - unfortunately scuppered by some neighbours trimming hedges and trees VERY loudly for most of the day! 😖 But then shared a Chinese takeaway with my daughter in the evening, which made for a lovely end to the day. And now I’m officially 60… and it actually feels okay! I’ll catch up with listening and commenting this evening after work! Loving what you’ve brought so far - thank you! 🙂

Happy Birthday Del! Incidentally it was my birthday on Sunday, though not a big round number birthday,

Anyway, I love the theme being "stuff Del likes". So here's my first contribution. I hope you like it. It's about love and I tried to make it extra emotional and miserable for you.

H ere you go Del, there was some great electronic music around in the 80s. In fact my first ever Season as host was 80s electro pop way back in….. well it was a long time ago. Here’s a top song from 1981. I had this as a 12” where it segues into “Where Did Our Love Go?”. Good memories ….

Just checked. It was Season 292, 80s Synth Pop.

This to me is the ultimate 80's song, here is me taking on Don't You Forget About Me by Simpleminds.

I thought there might be an 80's U2 song I did not record yet for the seasons, and I thought this was one of them (but it’s not, after recording I found, I had recorded it 13 years ago, for season 75 ;-)), anyway this is called Trip Through Your Wires.

Aviva

Happy birthday, Del! I hope you enjoy this addition to your playlist.

Time After Time

here's a slow sad one for you mate, also from the 80s
"Still Lookin' for You" from Townes Van Zandt's At My Window album

OneManAndHisPGUke

My blast from the past Del. You can’t beat a bit of Phil and the HL gang.

Thanks for hosting, Del!

I made this video for you, with animations and some dancing with Jon. I saw Kylie Minogue at the AFL(Australian Football League) final the other day, and got this song stuck in my head.

I made some cartoons of you, Del, age 1, 6, 16, 26, 36, 46, 56 and 60! (I wrote this for those who don't watch my videos but may be interested to see Del in cartoons. haha) (Oh, and also those of you who may be interested to see Jon dance, hehe)

Thanks to Jon for doing the Locomotion with me!

Come on, baby, do the locomotion!

Belated happy birthday mate, I refused a gathering on my 70th earlier this year, I guess that makes me a kindred anti social bastard spirit.

Just back from Spain, a bit knackered but I'll try to do something from the 80s before the end of the season.

UkeFoote

Elliott Smith's "Clementine", for baritone ukulele with singing. Thanks for hosting, Del… I hope you're having a great birthday week!

Barbablanca

Happy 60th Del,

I am in Ireland this week, on holiday, so I cannot join in the fun.

Have a great one. And remember, 60 is the new 40!

All the best… Comhghairdeas!

Here’s one that should keep the host happy - released in 1980 and a slow(ish), sad love song.

Baritone uke, added synth stuff, homemade drum track, vocal harmonies.

All Out Of Love - Air Supply cover (SOTU 763)

johnpoole

Some Antipodean 80's from The Church. Steve Kilby writer. On 8 string tenor through amp with some garage band synth.

Good easy authentic sounding arrangement on Richard G. uke site. 'Under The Milky Way'

Today is ORANGE SHIRT DAY, a day for Truth & Reconciliation with the indigenous people of Canada. I have been working on a song by William Prince from Treaty One Territory Peguis First Nation in Manitoba. William played at our local Shelter Valley Folk Festival and Maggie and I became fans. Unfortunately, the song is too hard to learn in one day, but I think Del would like it and I'll try to get it done this season.

I'm not sure that this one will appeal to Del, but I was thinking of Del's pronunciation of "garage" and his impression of the way we pronounce the word "grarge" in North America and it reminded me of this old Fred Eaglesmith song.

BIG ASS GARAGE SALE

jon

a sweet sad ol love song from 1909 in the tin pan era
"I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now"
