I’ve been working on this for the last week or two - hoped it might fit a Season sooner rather than later, but I could be waiting for a good while, so I’ll post it here instead.
The Flashing Blade was a French 1960s TV series for kids, which was (badly) dubbed into English and shown regularly on the BBC during school holidays and on Saturday mornings when I was a boy in the 1970s. The storyline is based upon historical events during the War of the Mantuan Succession (1628–1631) between France and Spain and its allies, though I seem to remember being somewhat confused by the plot and simply enjoying the action and, especially, the stirring theme tune - which I’ve attempted to cover here.
The song is actually called ‘Fight’, and was by the Musketeers (written by Alex Masters).
