December 2011 I bought an alto flute. It sounds absolutely luscious with its lowest note low G, or G3 (as on a low G uke). Unfortulately there is not a lot of orchestral music out there, and because of the lower frequencies it drowns in concert bands.
So, after waiting 14 years and several months, I was over the moon that Teesside Wind Band started a flute choir (and a clarinet choir a different Friday of the month).
We meet monthly. We play arrangements for 4 voices of concert flutes, alto flute (sometimes first and second parts), bass flute, and sometimes piccolo.
