Can you handle another Christmas mashup? I wanted to do this one today, but couldn't think of a single person in my current life named Dan or Danny I could gift it to.
Then I went Christmas-Eve grocery shopping (bargains today, stores closed tomorrow). I was about to rush home with my fresh produce and frozen things … when who should shout my name from her car but my friend Susan, who I was going to call when I got home, because she'd been sick for a while with covid and I hadn't seen her.
She was there to have lunch at the Moggill Village Cafe, so I joined her. The delightful young man who took our order had the most amazing art-covered arms. I asked his name - it's Dan! So I told him I had a gift for him.
This time I was really about to leave with my soggy groceries, when it dawned on me that if I'm going to get a covid booster this year and still be eligible for one before the holidays next year, I'd better do it now.
Rachel at the pharmacy who gave me my shot was wearing a hilarious t-shirt featuring a Christmas tree made of pills with a medical star on top and a Tannenbaum pun caption below. So I told her I'd be gifting this to her too!
"O Danny Baum" - basically the lyrics of "O Tannenbaum" to the tune of "O Danny Boy", assembled two Christmases ago in my tent at the Woodford Folk Festival, which gave me covid both times I went … so yeah, that's a lot of covid for one little song intro!
