SOTU 675 -- "All That Glitters"

OnlyUkeThatMatters

I wrote a "Silver and Gold" song these past couple days to join the four great "Silver and Gold" songs I've learned already. It sure doesn't compare to Dolly Parton's, Neil Young's, Burl Ives's, or Joe Strummer's songs with that glittering title, though it was fun to put it together for y'all!

The progression flowed from how lovely one-finger chords sound on the new tiple. The lyrics mix up four lines in various ways:

Paper & plastic, awful fantastic
Soft & hard, coin & card
Credit or cash, from dust to ash
Blood & souls, silver & gold

I've got a Playford tune for you, Ila!

I injured the underside of my right forearm on Friday as I got out of the car. I don't know what happened exactly, but it was caused by the absolutely crazy weather Storm Eowyn brought around. Anyway, I think I pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve, so I'm very careful. Using my middle and ring fingers is sometimes still painful. I am fully able to use my thumb and index finger. My lute training is starting to bleed into my uke playing.

And now back to my wheat bags as they seem to help.

It is Monday morning here in SoCal, so Season 675 is officially over. Thank you, one and all, for your splendid contributions to the Season. We have 48 submissions on the playlist (If I inadvertently omitted yours, please accept my apologies and let me know ASAP so I can rectify the situation).

It was very difficult to select just one winner, so I have chosen two. The first one has to, has to, HAS TO be MikeM for his simply incredible submission of "Stairway to Heaven." I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The second winner is our lovely Val, for her submission of "Any Dream Will Do" from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Winners, please message me with your shipping addresses, and I'll get your token prizes in the mail to you post haste.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. 🎶

Oh, Ila … THANK YOU! I only came over here to say thanks for a positively "glittering" week and to see who the winners were; I didn't expect one of them to be me! (And you've put me to shame because I haven't done the Wrap for my week yet … oh, dear!)

Congrats Valerie and Mike M 👍. And thank you for hosting Ila 😊

MikeM

😲 wow! Really?!? Thanks, it was a fun challenge!

Well done to the winners! Thanks for hosting Ila, and sorry I only managed one song this week (I had plans for two more, but so it goes).

Thanks so much for the Lei, Ila … it arrived at the beginning of the week. It's really pretty and I shall find a uke with which to honour it … meanwhile, it makes a very nice headband. (I have become a ukulele!)
