uke4ia Last week, I played a song by the mid-aughts band Margot & the Nuclear So and So's at the Seasonista open mic. This is a song called "Vampires in Blue Dresses" from the same album. It's the 13th song I've played for the Seasons that has "blue" in the title.
UkeFoote "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", by Crosby, Stills, and Nash, for concert ukulele with singing and shaker, overdubs of Ashbory Ubass and secondary vocal. Thanks for hosting, Mitch!
CeeJay The Katy Is the Kansas City, Missouri to Houston, Texas express train. And she caught it !!! Oh and left me a mule to ride. Taj Mahal and Yank Rachell wrote this and The Blues Brothers used it in their most excellent film. Which I have only just found about. In fact this a couple of firsts here. First time I knew that and first time recording in Reaper. Because I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of Cubase (so unneccesarily complex and convoluted and it drops EZDrummer ALL the time after a month or so ) and Cakewalk ,which is no longer free and not worth the money they ae asking .....I may write a Blues about DAWs (Digital Audio Work [sometimes]stations). Reaper. Has a catchy name. Oooerrr. It's a bit rough ,I did one take only on each track. Just this afternoon. And I did the intro seperate to the song........I had a good reason for doing so , but buggered if I can think what it was ......
dr_mitch Another from your host, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea - a 1931 swing song, but perhaps best known these days* for the George Harrison cover. *These days being the last 30 years.
OnlyUkeThatMatters I practiced three wonderful songs for this week, then I caught the flu and my voice got wrecked. Close enough to healed up to sing "Protex Blue" from the Clash tonight, though. Though still too wrecked to sing either Hüsker Dü's "Pink Has Turned to Blue" or David Bowie's "Blue Jean." Hopefully, they'll work out future Seasons 😛
UkeCan1 This is my second entry this week, second twofer, second Elvis song. I could have done an entire week of "blue" Elvis songs - "Blue Suede Shoes", "Blue Christmas", "Blue Moon", "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain", "Blue Moon of Kentucky", plus the two I did … and probably heaps more. Here's "Blue Hawaii", from a movie of the same name:
MsBean Some Blue Breeches for you all, a Playford dance published in 1652. https://playforddances.com/dances/blue-breeches/ I probably should have played it through before today. I couldn't make my mind up if I wanted chord melody or maybe try out some ornaments. Since I got stuck on a chord in the B part, I went with some twiddly bits.
dr_mitch DelGriff Oh, I hadn’t even thought of that connection. I can’t claim to be a Chelsea fan (Southampton for me, my hometown) but they are still my favourite London team. Goes back to liking the badge and colours when collecting football stickers to fill the album if you remember those!
dr_mitch And it’s over! It has been a blue week for me, but hosting this was a bright spot indeed. If anyone reading this is considering hosting, I recommend the experience - it’s really fun. Write- up coming, but for now I need to tidy up, converting the overly large man cave back into a house for my partner to return from hospital on Friday.
DelGriff dr_mitch dr_mitch Southampton for me, my hometown Sorry to hear that, Doc - not looking great for your boys at the moment! And thanks for a great Season! 👍🏼🙂 And for anyone that’s wondering what prompted my question:
dr_mitch DelGriff Cheers Del. Someone should really have brought the Chelsea anthem! And yeah, the least said about Southampton’s current prospects, the better!
