Thanks for hosting, Steve! 🙂
When I was probably about fourteen, I bought a Walkman with my paper round money. Except it wasn’t a nice, small, neat, cool Sony Walkman. They were far too expensive. It was a (relatively) huge, clunky, heavy wannabe Walkman, made by Binatone, approximately the size and weight of a house brick, and was the opposite of cool - just like me. But I could attach it to my belt and walk the streets of Sittingbourne kidding myself I was something other than the awkward, shy, spotty adolescent that I really was. And after I’d bought it, I was so skint I realised that I didn’t actually have any cassettes to play in the thing. So I randomly nicked one from my dad’s collection - and luckily it turned out to be a Beatles album - A Hard Day’s Night. And, unsurprisingly, I quickly grew to love it. Eventually, when funds permitted, I moved on to other more current music, but that album still evokes lots of memories of happier, simpler times for me.
This is a track from the UK and Australian release of the album (in North America it was included instead on the Something New album), and it was also on the B-side of the Hard Day’s Night single.
Just baritone uke, a doubled up main vocal (to be heard above the uke), and some vocal harmonies here and there too.
