joo Here is a video on interjections if you haven't watched it yet. And if you can play me this song as your entry, I will be over the moon!
The schoolhouse rock song immediately popped into my head when I saw the title. Like how the Alphabet song is infused into the letters that most of us are incapable or recitiing the alphabet "flat" - we can't help but start singing the letters… INNNN-terjections!
When I'm teaching an English class, eventhough interjections are never part of an English class syllabus, if I have some extra time, the kids are shown 50 year-old Schoolhouse Rock cartoons, and I always start with INTERjections!
I;ll ask before if they know what interjections are, and they generally do, and then I ask what do interjections show? How are they punctuated? They don't understand the question.
After watching, what do they show?
Excitement or emotion!
Punctuation?
They're [A]generally set a[D]part from a
sentence [G]by an excla[D]mation point
[A7]Or by a comma when the [G]feeling's not as
[D]strong. [A7]Oooooh.
