I didn't offer much explanation because I didn't think "Willkommen" required Thorntoning - I thought it was spot-on themewise. It is literally the MC of the cabaret welcoming audience members from all over. It repeats itself in three different languages precisely because the audience being welcomed includes people from other countries.
The very word "welcome", in all three languages and many others as well, means "well come" - it is well with us that you have come (from somewhere else is implied in the very word).
The lyrics are, "Welcome", "stranger", "happy to see you", "stay", and then "Welcome", "to Cabaret" - in German, French, and English.
